Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers – Game 3

NBA: 5.00 PM EST

May 05, 2018

The 76ers will go home after a surprising start to their series with the Boston Celtics, as the much-hyped Philadelphia team trails a very undermanned C’s squad 2-0 in their second-round series. The story was much the same as Game 1 in its sequel on Wednesday night, as the Celtics used a scoring committee to overcome an early 20 point deficit and send the Sixers into a two-game hole. Jayson Tatum returned from injury and led Boston with 21 key points.

Philly rookie phenom Ben Simmons was held to his worst professional performance, with just 1 point and no field goals. It’s hard to imagine that Boston will continue to be able to have the same type of success, especially considering they still needed a miraculous comeback despite an abomination of an outing from Simmons.

That said, it is always hard to count out coaching and scheme, and Brad Stevens continues to make a case for Coach of the Year as he’s led the Celtics to unprecedented playoff success despite missing major roster components. But the C’s have yet to win on the road in the playoffs this year (0-3), and Philly should come out with a chip on their shoulder. I’m riding the favorites.
