Boston Red Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays

MLB: 07.10 PM EST

May 23, 2018

The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will play the middle game of a 3-game set at Tropicana field on Wednesday night. The Sox opened the series with a 4-2 win on the back of ace Chris Sale last night.

Tonight’s starting pitchers highlight the marquee matchup of this interdivisional series, as LHP David Price (4-4, 4.38 ERA) will take on the team he began his career with. Price has struggled at the outset of this season, but is coming off his best start of the year, a complete-game victory over Baltimore. Rays ace Chris Archer (3-3, 5.01 ERA) will go for Tampa Bay, desperately needing a start to get his rocky season on track. Archer has historically pitched poorly against Boston, sporting just a 2-12 record against them with a 5.49 ERA.

Boston has been an offensive powerhouse to start the season, leading the majors in batting average and 2nd in total runs scored. On the back of David Price, who looks to be settling into midseason form, and facing a starter who has struggled mightily against them, I like the odds for the Sox to take game two of this series and be in line for the sweep on Thursday.
