Chicago Cubs vs Pittsburgh Pirates

MLB: 07.05 PM EST

May 30, 2018

The Cubs overcame a shaky first couple innings from ace Jon Lester and rode a strong offensive performance to an 8-6 win in the second game of their three game series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The Chicago lineup put together a second consecutive encouraging game, tallying 14 hits in the winning effort.

Joe Musgrove (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will be on the hill for the Bucs in the final game of the set, trying to salvage one game for Pittsburgh and put a halt to their current four-game slide. He has made just a single start this season, and pitched shutout ball. Kyle Hendricks (4-3, 3.16 ERA) will go for the Cubs.

One of the biggest stories for Chicago has been the recent struggles of Kris Bryant, who has batted just .192 in the past week after a torrid start to the season. The Cubs’ offense has been potent despite their best hitter scuffling, and KB has shown in his first few years in the majors that his slumps rarely last a particularly long time. With a career .500 average against Musgrove, I like tonight to be a potential candidate for the former #2 overall pick to bust out in a big way.

Our Free MLB Pick: Kris Bryant over 2.5 hits/runs/RBIs
