Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets – Game 7

NBA: 09.00 PM EST

May 28, 2018

The Rockets and Warriors will meet in a decisive Game 7 at the Toyota Center, with the winner advancing to play Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Golden State is aiming to meet the Cavs for the fourth consecutive NBA Finals, while Houston attempts to reach their first championship series in over 20 years.

Game 6 had the makings early of an upset, as the Rockets jumped out to a 17-point lead after the first quarter, with a combination of impressive three-point shooting and tenacious defense. But their 39 point outburst in the first 12 minutes would be easily the offensive highlight of the evening for Houston, as they managed just 47 points in the final three quarters (including a paltry 9 in the final frame), and were ambushed by a Golden State team that went on to win 115-86.

Tonight, Chris Paul remains doubtful for the Rockets, and the Warriors showed strong signs in Game 6 that they have figured out how to defend Houston’s isolation-heavy offensive style. Steve Kerr and his team have the championship pedigree needed to win on the road in a winner-take-all scenario, and I expect them to get it done over an injury-battered Rockets team.
