Los Angeles Dodgers vs Chicago Cubs (Game 2)

MLB: 08.05 PM EST

June 19, 2018

Monday night’s series opener between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers was postponed one day after persistent storms pushed potential first pitch deep into the night. The series will kick off at 1PM EST on Tuesday afternoon, with the middle game of the series taking place as scheduled at 8PM EST.

STARTING PITCHERS: Los Angeles LHP Rich Hill (1-2, 6.20 ERA) vs. Chicago LHP Mike Montgomery (2-2, 3.31 ERA)

Two southpaws will be under the lights in the second game of Tuesday’s split doubleheader. Rich Hill has posted subpar numbers thus far in 2018, dealing with lingering finger issues and pitching to a gaudy WHIP of 1.74. Montgomery, meanwhile, has been a bright spot at the back of the rotation for the North Siders, filling in admirably in the absence of offseason acquisition Yu Darvish. He was a tough luck loser in his last outing, allowing just a solo home run to Lorenzo Cain in a 1-0 loss to the Brewers.

A doubleheader is typically difficult to bet, as it’s hard to say who might be in the lineup for either of the given games. But, given the track record of the two starters, I’m backing Chicago to win the back end of Tuesday’s slate.
