Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers

MLB: 08.00 PM EST

July 25, 2018

The surging Oakland Athletics (59-43) will try to win their third straight game against the host Texas Rangers (42-60) on Wednesday night in a battle of AL West teams. The A’s improved to 25-7 in their last 32 contests with a dramatic come from behind win on Tuesday night, with Khris Davis’ three-run HR in the 10th inning capping a surge of 11 straight runs in the 13-10 Oakland win.

STARTING PITCHERS: Oakland RHP Edwin Jackson (1-2, 2.93 ERA) vs. Texas LHP Martin Perez (2-4, 8.05 ERA)

Journeyman Edwin Jackson will take the hill for the Athletics, in search of his 100th career win in the majors. He’s been a solid acquisition for playoff hopefuls Oakland, pitching to a sub-3.00 ERA, well below his career mark of 4.64. He will be opposed by Rangers southpaw Martin Perez, who will be making his third start since a returning from a two-month stint on the disabled list.

Oakland is probably the hottest team in baseball right now, anchored by an offense that has been explosive in the month of July. On Wednesday night they’ll face a pitcher in Perez that has yielded a .326 batting average collectively to this current group of A’s. That combined with the resurgence of Edwin Jackson as a reliable option at the back end of the rotation makes it hard to bet against the Athletics to win their fifth straight.
