Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows

AFL: 7.50 PM AEST

April 20, 2018

HOME TEAM

The Swannies are kicking some serious goals this year lead all the way by Brownlow Buddy [I will keep calling him that until he gets suspended or injured]. Add to this their mix of young exciting players such as Florent, Cunningham and Heeney mashed with old seasoned heads Kennedy, Parker, Hannebery and Grundy down back, then you have a pretty formidable team.

AWAY TEAM

The Crows are injury rattled right now with the Crouch Brothers still out of action and now Sloane and Betts who will not be travelling to Sydney. It is a tough, challenging time for the Crows but it is a good time to test their depth and I’m sure they’ll be out to prove a point tonight.

ANALYSIS

The Swans have had the upper hand over the Crows for a few years now winning 6 of the last 7 contests by an average of approximately 30 Points. The Swans are ranked #1 for Goals per inside 50 with an average of 29.1% – so the Crows Defenders will have their work cut out for them.

Adelaide, on the other hand, is Ranked #1 for Effective Disposal Efficiency at 75.5%. They will need to be deadly accurate against a rampaging Swans team on their home deck.

THE ODDS

The Swans are heavily backed in to win this one at home. Given injuries to key Crows and the fact it is at the SCG, it is easy to understand why most bookies have the Swans $1.28 favourites with a line of -25.5.

THE VERDICT

The Swans have had the upper hand over the Crows for a few years now winning 6 of the last 7 contests and Adelaide have not won at the SCG since 2012. The Crows are in injury Town right now add to that the lack of confidence the Crows will have after being demoralized at home against Collingwood last weekend, it will be quite a task for the boys from Adelaide to go over to the land of the Swan and get a Big W. We think the Swans will just cover the line on this one.
