Utah Jazz vs Houston Rockets – Game 5

NBA: 8.00 PM EST

May 08, 2018

The Houston Rockets may feel as if they can take their foot off the pedal after winning two straight games in Salt Lake City to move one win away from a likely date with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. After a surprising loss at the hands of the Jazz in Game 2, Houston really controlled play in Games 3 and 4 and will look to ice the series on Tuesday night.

Both teams were underwhelming shooting the ball in Sunday’s Game 4, each finishing under 30% from three point distance and 42% from the field overall. But the Rockets have been great offensively at the Toyota Center this postseason, and I don’t expect that poor shooting to continue.

Utah +12 might be a decent play here, but the Rockets have too much firepower to be sure that a Jazz team without Ricky Rubio can withstand what might be a three-point barrage and keep this within single digits. Instead, I’ll back the over in the hopes that Utah continues to play at an above-average pace in these playoffs, and that the shooting across the board improves in Game 5.
