Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards

NBA: 5:30 PM EST

April 14, 2018

In the first round of the NBA Playoffs we get treated with a battle of two great backcourts when the Washington Wizards head north of the border to take on the top seeded Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors are being led by their star-studded backcourt of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. The two guards are combining for 39.2 of their teams average of 111.7 points while also combining for over 11 assists per game. The team may be without backup Point Guard Fred VanVleet as he is battling a shoulder injury. He is listed as day-to-day.

The Wizards have been ravished with injuries all year starting with their All Star Point Guard John Wall. He has only played in 41 of the team’s 82 games this year. He is finally looking healthy heading into the playoffs, which is a good sign for Washington. Bradley Beal stepped up in Wall’s absence this year by averaging 22.6 ppg. The Wizards should only be missing backup Forward Mike Scott as he is still in NBA’s concussion protocol.

Even though this is a 1 seed vs 8 seed, this series will be no walk in the park. The Raptors have the edge here in Game 1 with home court advantage, where they went 34-7  while the Wizards struggled on the road only winning 20 in their 41 chances. With Drake courtside, I think the Raptors take this game by double digits but don’t be surprised if the Wizards keep this one close throughout.
